Dear Chronic pain enthusiast,
We welcome you to the third SUA course specifically devoted to the field of Pain Interventions performed using ultrasound. In recent years, just as with regional anaesthesia, ultrasound has emerged as an exciting new modality to perform axial and peripheral pain blocks. With recent guidance from ASRA recommending training in ultrasound guided pain intervention for trainees there is no better time to learn.
We have gathered together an expert faculty to teach a step-by-step guide to commonly performed pain blocks.
Following the success of last years workshop we have developed this workshop into a pure hands on day of imaging for ultrasound (uss) guided pain procedures.
Under the guidance of our expert faculty and within small groups you will spend the day practically learning a wide variety of chronic pain procedures using ultrasound.
You will have plenty of time to practise scanning techniques on live models and the opportunity to practise needling on our phantom.
The course is not only aimed at those that are learning uss guided techniques for the first time but also for those that wish to fine tune the skills that they have already acquired.
In order to maximise hands on time during the day we have developed an online library of lectures and resources that you will be given access to, to look over in your own time.
We will have a number of different ultrasound machines for you to use allowing you the opportunity to ‘road test’ them before considering purchase.
We will be including the following procedures in this years workshop:
Medial branch, root block, stellate ganglion
Paravertebral & intercostal blocks
Facet, medial branch, caudal, sacroiliac, piriformis
Ilioinguinal, iliohypogastric, suprascapular, Transversus abdominis Plane block, greater occipital
